Rehydration
Posted on January 21, 2011
It is Hot, both in and out of the Gym, so it is very important for every person, both casual workout enthusists and full on athletes to know the value of water before and after exercise. If you follow these guidelines and get the right amount of water every day, you will feel more energy and more flexibility.I hear all the time…if I drink water, I will get a cramp…the truth is that cramps can be a symptom of dehydration and drinking water will help ensure that you are not dehydrated, which will ultimately reduce your risk of getting cramps. Most people wait until they are thirsty to drink water, but that is not the best idea, especially when training so hard at Griffins. So here are my tips for keeping hydrated while working out:
- Drink a cup of water 20 to 30 minutes prior to exercising.
- Drink 2-3 mouthfulls of water every 10 to 15 minutes during exercise.
- Drink 2 cups of water for every pound of body weight lost after exercise.
- And…try to drink throughout the day, in this heat, 10 cups or more.
P.S. Drinking Water flushes out impurities in your skin, leaving you with a clear, glowing complexion….Yeah….so ladies, you can Glow and not Sweat!
